Two roads diverged into a wood...

A native rainbow... and that has made all the difference.

I find it very comforting to know this beautiful brook trout has never encountered a human before me.

I found these fish in a stream which had been devastated several years back by a flood. Please remember that if you take wild fish from a river it only compounds to the many factors that these beautiful fish face in the battle for survival. PLEASE PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE. If you must eat fish buy them at the supermarket. Another idea for NY residents would be to purchase them from the Fisheries Department at a SUNY college campus.

Another threat to native trout... Beavers.
Unlike us their natural habitat is the wild.

Heading home.
